Helen Cox

Helen has over 25 years of fundraising and major gifts experience, with a particular focus on health, education and international development. Helen’s work with Philanthropy Company includes a year as interim Director of Development with Clifton College in Bristol, providing leadership and support for the in-house team, recruiting the permanent post, updating critical processes, developing the case for support and making detailed actionable recommendations for growing income. She’s also recently worked with the inspiring team at London Mathematical Society to build their new philanthropy programme.
Helen spent five years at the University of Oxford. As a senior fundraiser and Deputy Head of Development for the Medical Sciences Division, she developed strategic opportunities to attract major philanthropic income (>£6mn) and worked with some of Oxford’s most prestigious academics and high profile donors. During the height of the pandemic, Helen also raised substantial income for Oxford’s successful Covid-19 vaccine, which has gone on to save millions of lives globally. Her experience also includes fundraising roles at the Ashmolean Museum, WaterAid, Practical Action, and Cecily’s Fund.
Helen is driven by social equality and environmental issues. She previously volunteered for the Riding for the Disabled Association, and recently supported Respect with professional pro-bono support.
