Fundraising Feasibility for the National Museum of the Royal Navy

‘A very comprehensive and readable report, which captures the quite complex position accurately and admirably … thank you for this, and particularly the wider perspective you have provided’.
Challenge
The National Museum of the Royal Navy spans multiple museums, historic naval vessels, and visitor attractions across the UK. As the Board and Executive team explored options for capital investment in one of their key sites, they needed a clear understanding of fundraising potential. We were engaged to conduct a feasibility study to assess the viability of securing funding for the project.
Response
We took a comprehensive approach, combining research into national and regional funding opportunities with direct engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including donors and sector specialists. Through this, we gathered insight into funding potential and the challenges of securing investment.
Impact
We presented a detailed feasibility report that was well received by both the Executive team and the Board, and will play a key role in guiding decision-making as they plan the development of the site. As part of this work, we delivered a comprehensive analysis of potential funding sources at both national and regional levels. We also engaged directly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a realistic and grounded picture of fundraising viability. From this, we offered practical recommendations to help prioritise fundraising efforts and shape a sustainable long-term strategy.
