Giving is Growing! Our thoughts on The Sunday Times Giving List 2016

Published by the Sunday Times annually, the Giving List is the leading measure of philanthropic giving among those featured in the Rich List. From our perspective, here is a summary of interesting points to take away from this years’ report:

Despite some notable sharp decreases in wealth (e.g. Lakshmi Mittal), philanthropic giving rose by 3.2% on last year, the highest since the 2008 crash
London still has more billionaires than any other city in the world (77)
A record 178 Rich Listers gave £1m or more to charity
Over half of them were over 69
Of the ten biggest charitable gifts of 2016, half of them went to universities
Giving is growing so this is good news!
