Gordon Cox

Gordon is a fundraising and advancement leader, with over 20 years of experience at some of the UK’s most prestigious institutions. He understands advancement and academia from all angles and takes a data-driven approach to high-value fundraising. Gordon draws on his extensive experience in securing transformational gifts in complex global institutions to support Philanthropy Company’s education clients.
In Gordon’s most recent role as the Director of Advancement at the University of Bath, he restructured the office and oversaw several of the largest gifts in the institution’s history, as well as a 50% increase in endowment. Prior to this, Gordon served as Head of Development for the Humanities at the University of Oxford and later as Director of Development at University College, Oxford. In these leadership roles, he built and established high-performing teams during periods of change. Gordon has a highly respected record of securing six to eight-figure gifts from individuals, trusts, and corporates, for a diverse range of projects such as capital and endowment.
A keen geographer, Gordon brings a global perspective to his work. His culturally informed approach is shaped by extensive travel and relationship-building with prospects across North America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
