Charlotte Wren

A strategic cultural leader with deep expertise in arts and charity fundraising, Charlotte has delivered transformational income growth across major organisations. Until recently, she was Associate Director of Philanthropy UK at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she led strategy across UK and Europe and built an international philanthropy programme that significantly expanded high‑value giving and strengthened global donor engagement. Since joining Philanthropy Company, Charlotte has been delivering senior interim support to the corporate team at Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as leading a strategic review of the corporate opportunity at Historic England.
As Director of Development at Shakespeare’s Globe, she rebuilt financial resilience post‑pandemic, established new income streams, and launched the organisation’s first individual giving revenue campaign, exceeding targets and accelerating digital and marketing‑led fundraising. Prior to this, she held a senior role at the British Council, where she developed its inaugural global arts fundraising strategy and embedded a culture of fundraising across the organisation. She also held earlier corporate partnerships roles at English National Ballet, the British Museum, and the Design Museum specialising in events and sponsorship.
With extensive experience managing high-value relationships and partnerships, she is skilled at leading high performing teams, developing innovative initiatives, and forging collaborative partnerships that drive engagement, income, and long term organisational growth.
