Andy brings to Philanthropy Company over 25 years of experience working in educational philanthropy, including 13 years as a Director of Development, before heading up the European arm of a global fundraising consultancy. His consulting now mixes interim leadership with services designed to step change fundraising performance through tailored coaching and strategic planning, particularly in the area of principal and major gifts.

In his consulting career, Andy has served a range of clients across the education and charity sectors, from start-ups to established teams of 100+ staff. He has worked with schools from the Eton Group to the state sector and prep schools, and in higher education he has led services to world top-10 universities and modern universities.

Before moving into consultancy, Andy served as Director of Development at Queen Mary University of London, where he successfully turned around its chequered history in fundraising and delivered a significant increase in philanthropic support, including securing many transformative gifts from a range of donors in the UK, North America and Asia.

Prior to Queen Mary, Andy spent almost a decade as Development Director at both Mansfield College, Oxford, and then at the University of Reading, where he was responsible for delivering substantial uplifts in philanthropic performance and planning the University’s first comprehensive campaign.

Andy is a former member of the Ross Group of Development Directors and a past Chair of the UK Universities Development Directors’ Forum. Andy was co-author of the IDPE Schools Fundraising Benchmarking Report and led a collaborative project between the ISC, IDPE and ISBA to produce the book ‘Transforming Young Lives: Fundraising for Bursaries’.
