Saying “Thanks”
I love celebrating.
Anything really! Birthdays, first days at school, last days at school, random Wednesdays… anything from mini to major achievements. As fundraisers we often get the opportunity to celebrate people and organisations giving to a cause that they believe in. From arts institutions to universities and INGOs to local community foundations, every pound raised is a victory and cause for celebration.
Sadly, we sometimes forget to say thank you to the very people who made it all possible.
The CASE magazine CURRENTS, have found some interesting things people have done at universities, from creating a year book per donor on Twitter or baking biscuits with notes on, to photo books made by students or spending an evening as a student to see what it’s like.
Two universities came up with some great and different ways to say thank you.
The University of Queensland in Australia made a video from the perspective of a future student in the class 2026. Fab idea – watch it here.
An oldie, but still one of my favourite “Thank Yous” was featured in the new CURRENTS magazine. When Bowling Green State University in Ohio celebrated the opening of its Stroh Centre in 2011, they created a rap music video to showcase their amazing donors who made the centre a possibility. The donors themselves featured in the video and showed a wonderful way to include donors in the journey of saying Thank You.
You can watch the video here.
Let’s keep celebrating and finding new ways to thank our donors!
