Philanthropy Company grows Arts and Culture team
This month Leo Crane joins the Philanthropy Company as a Senior Associate. Making the announcement today Caroline Underwood, CEO of the Philanthropy Company said
‘We are delighted to be welcoming Leo to our team as part of our wider arts and heritage work with clients. We have the privilege of working with the heritage and cultural sectors as well as with the education, universities and charity sectors to grow philanthropy in the UK. The addition of Leo to the team is a tribute to the impact and reputation we have built to date. ’
Leo will work with our client, the British Library, during their forthcoming capital campaign.
Leo has 18 years’ fundraising experience in the cultural sector including working at the V&A, Royal Institute of British Architects and Dulwich Picture Gallery where he has been pivotal in establishing long-term, productive relationships with funders and donors. He has successfully led major capital campaigns, established Patrons and American Friends programmes, and launched public appeals. He has organised events, from royal dinners to exclusive cultural tours, working internationally in Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Middle East.
Leo is skilled at fundraising strategy, from planning for major campaigns to creating practical day-to-day capacity with limited resources. He is also adept at producing compelling campaign collateral, from concept stage to final design for print and online.
When not fundraising, he runs creative workshops for cultural, community and private clients and is a keen painter and animator. His work is underpinned by an impeccable academic record including MA (Hons) in Classics from Oxford University and MA (Distinction) in Computer Animation from Bournemouth University.
Joining the Philanthropy Company today (28 November) Leo said,
‘I am delighted to be joining the Philanthropy Company and delighted to be working with the British Library. I have benefited from The Library’s services as a research student, in setting up a small business and as a member of the public inspired by its unparalleled collections. I am thrilled to be able to make a small contribution to its future development. The Philanthropy Company has an exciting vision – to grow philanthropy in the UK – and I am delighted to be part of that ambition.’
