Valerie Harland






Bringing over 30 years’ experience in fundraising, gained in the UK and New Zealand, Valerie has worked with a variety of causes, from arts and heritage, health and welfare, to international development.

Valerie started her career in London, specialising in marketing and gifts in wills for national UK organisations including the NSPCC and national Mind. In 2001 she moved to New Zealand, working for one of Australasia’s foremost not-for-profits, the Fred Hollows Foundation, before joining the Auckland office of a Melbourne-based international fundraising consultancy. Assignments included capital campaigns, feasibility studies, fundraising audits, strategies, and cases for support.

Since returning to the UK in 2007 Valerie has worked in interim, consultancy and in-house roles. As Head of Development for Bristol Culture she raised funds for its museums and archives, and managed its development trust. Valerie is a qualified trainer and a trustee of the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust.
