Sarah Jane O’Neill
Sarah Jane has over ten years’ experience of major donor fundraising and special events. As the first dedicated philanthropy lead at The Scouts, she personally solicited £1.4 million of major gifts from high net worth individuals, trusts and foundations, helping to fund a new national programme for Early Years Scouting. She has worked on some of the UK’s most high profile campaigns including Heads Together, where she recruited and stewarded 25 high value runners for their elite running ream, collectively raising over £350K for mental health charities at the Virgin Money London Marathon 2017.
As Head of Major Giving at Stonewall, Sarah Jane played a lead role in introducing and implementing effective relationship fundraising for major donors. During her time here she increased major giving income by over 50% through increased one off donations and the introduction of a two tier regular giving programme. At the Imperial War Museums, Sarah Jane led the Major Gifts team on the £30.5 million capital campaign for new Second World War and Holocaust Galleries, helping to identify, cultivate and secure six and seven figure gifts for the second stage of IWM London’s transformation.
Sarah Jane has a broad and in-depth experience of special events and her successful portfolio includes intimate pledge dinners with celebrity hosts, panel discussions, film screenings, curator presentations and auctions. Working with a volunteer board, she produced the KIDS Annual Gala at Claridges, raising six figures for disabled children’s services. Her background in theatre and performance give her an innate understanding of the importance of language and story-telling and the ability to get to the heart of any fundraising message. She is currently studying towards an MA in Philanthropic Studies at the University of Kent.
