Patricia Castanha is a fundraising management consultant with a wealth of experience in the arts and heritage sectors. Her background in both revenue and capital fundraising enables her to offer a wide range of skills and understanding to clients.

She began her career in-house, initially with English National Opera. During her time there she was lucky to work with both corporate and individual giving teams and then to become the first dedicated trust fundraiser in the department, all of which provided a broad base of experience to bring to bear in her next role, managing a capital campaign for the Aldeburgh Festival (now Snape Maltings). Patricia then became Director of Development & Marketing for the London Philharmonic Orchestra, after which she moved into consultancy in 2002.

She now works independently and as part of our team. Clients in the UK have included Wigmore Hall, Tate, the Royal Academy of Arts, the London Symphony Orchestra, Lambeth Palace Library, Leeds International Piano Competition, Chelsea Physic Garden and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, among others. Patricia led the £36 million capital campaign for the Renewal of St Martin-in-the-Fields and also worked on the restoration of Pitzhanger Manor, the only house Sir John Soane both designed and lived in and more recently on the campaign for English National Ballet and English National Ballet School’s new home, opening in May 2019. Patricia has delivered fundraising training seminars for Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy and is currently advising YCAT (Young Concert Artists Trust), London Symphony Orchestra and City & Guilds of London Art School.

In a voluntary capacity Patricia was a member of the National Theatre‘s Trusts Working Group during the recent £80 million capital fundraising campaign and, until June 2018, chaired the St Martin-in-the-Fields BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal. The latter was first broadcast in 1927 and at Christmas 2017 raised £3 million for distribution in small, rapid-response grants to individuals in crisis, nation-wide. She currently chairs National Youth Ballet.
