David is a Director of Philanthropy Company leading our communications, reputation and social purpose work. Prior to joining Philanthropy Company David was at Tesco, where he was UK and Ireland communications director and member of the UK leadership team.

At Tesco, David led all the supermarket’s community and charity programmes and partnerships, through some of the largest private sector fundraising, donation and food redistribution schemes in the UK.  In the face of the pandemic, he oversaw £60m of food relief and community support to those who needed it most, working with FareShare, the Trussell Trust and the British Red Cross.  He refocused the famous Bags of Help scheme into Tesco Community Grants, which gives £8m a year to more than 6,000 community groups, through partnership with Groundwork.  He led the health charity partnership, working with the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK to positively impact on Tesco’s 320,000 UK colleagues and its millions of customers.

David was also instrumental in establishing Tesco as a founding patron of the National Emergencies Trust, working with the Philanthropy Company. Prior to Tesco, David was group head of communications at Monarch Airlines and has previously worked as a director at communications consultancies freuds and BCW.
