Making the Ask – Silence and listening
Perhaps the hardest part comes with keeping silent. You’ve made the ask. Now it’s the donor’s turn to respond.
Pay attention to their non-verbal response as well as what they say. What is their tone of voice? Are they sitting forward on their seat looking you right in the eye or sitting back with folded arms looking at the traffic?
Give them as long as hey need to offer feedback, ideas and raise questions, concerns and issues. Deal with only some of the concerns and not all. Articulating a concern is a useful step towards resolving the concern.
In the 8th and final blog in this series, making the Ask, we will look at how to close the gift
