Captain Tom Foundation
Challenge
We worked alongside the family and Adam & Eve DDB to get the Foundation set up, with a mission, vision and brand new charity partnerships with Helen & Douglas House, Mind, Willen Hospice, and The Royal British Legion.
Response
Starting to support fundraising and partnerships from October 2020, we worked across funding streams to match the Foundation with the most suitable opportunities, and developed a new opportunity pipeline with prospect research, qualification, and corporate engagement. Working with ITV’s Good Morning Britain One Million Minutes, we helped secure volunteering hours for partner charities; and, a ‘Christmas Together’ loneliness feature in The Sun, over Christmas 2020, where we profiled the work of the Foundation, and its partners, around loneliness at a pivotal moment in the global covid-19 pandemic.
We worked closely with the team, day and night, creating a new Foundation, new impact and a new legacy. With the sad passing of Captain Tom in 2021, we worked with the family and team, to support relationships at this critical time, and stepped up to help with crisis communications, enquiries and the numerous outpourings of support. From there, to Captain Tom 100, we vetted and onboarded three new mental health charities supporting young people (Place2Be, The Mix and Young Minds), managed relationships with businesses and organisations, and provided project management for the campaign fundraising – to ensure a successful campaign, in memory of Captain Tom’s first walk and birthday.
Impact
Throughout our time with The Captain Tom Foundation, we built strong relationships with corporate prospects and partners, engaging them on key campaigns and activities. We were a key contact for all benefiting charities; chairing regular meetings, collating stories and case studies for media and website content, overseeing the development of these relationships and ensuring reporting was received on the impact of funds donated.
We have supported strategy development planning sessions, developed background systems and business processes – such as a due diligence framework, supporter care stewardship plans, and new fundraising platforms – to support the running of the Foundation, now and into the future.
We are very proud of what the Foundation has achieved in that time, and step away leaving the Foundation in a strong position to capitalise on its valued supporter base of individuals and companies, that have shown encouraging heartfelt support in the Foundations first year.
Hannah Ingram-Moore:
‘Thank you and your fabulous team for everything you have done to support The Captain Tom Foundation since its inception, we really could not have got here without you.’
