Giving Tuesday
Just a few days after the huge global spending spree of Black Friday, it is encouraging to see the steady rise of another, more magnanimous reason to put our hands in our pockets at the end of every November: Giving Tuesday.
In its third year, the day has become a firm fixture in the fundraising calendar, and a massive social media phenomenon. #GivingTuesday has inspired a world record for the most money donated online in 24 hours, and reached 70 countries across the world.
At Philanthropy Company, as we begin to feel the chill of winter and start our busy countdown to the Christmas break, our thoughts are turning to those for whom this is a particularly cold, hungry and lonely time of year. So this #GivingTuesday, we have all decided to donate our lunch money to the Crisis at Christmas appeal. In addition to hot festive meals for the homeless, Crisis will provide dental checks and healthcare, housing and employment advice and safe accommodation for the most vulnerable. Here’s to a very successful Giving Tuesday to all fundraisers and charities!
